Contracts of Employment
Many employment entitlements apply to your employees whether you have a written contract of employment with them or not. Some entitlements arise from statutes (such as the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) or the Long Service Leave Act 1955 (NSW)), and some may come from industrial Awards. A written contract of employment can cover areas which are more specific to your workplace where the legislative Acts and Industrial Awards don’t, such as confidential information clauses, intellectual property protections or clauses setting out post-employment restraints.
Getting the right advice at the beginning of the employment relationship, and having good contracts in place, can help avoid problems, misunderstandings or disputes later on.
We can assist you in working out how to meet your legal obligations to your employees, and provide you with guidance in drafting the right contract of employment for your staff and workplace.
